BrakeAce is bike tech startup based in Rotorua, New Zealand - home to some of the greatest mountain bike trails on Earth. Our mission is to demystify MTB. We have created the world's first wireless brake sensor and a cutting-edge app that provides actionable feedback so that every rider can improve every ride. BrakeAce's founding team is made up of industry experts who have developed amazing solutions for the bike and sports industries, supported the best athletes, and provided their expertise to the most iconic brands we all ride and love. We are a small, bootstrapped team spread across the globe in 4 times zones, and are experts at remote productivity. We wake up every day believing whole-heartedly that we are building the future of our industry. Supporting interns is something we are passionate about, and previous interns have leapfrogged from BrakeAce to work for some incredible companies. Since we create hardware and software, there is always something fun and interesting to build, and always a story to tell. 

BrakeAce is interested in hosting internships in:

  • Mechanical Engineering - the PF2 brake sensor may be our first sensor, but it isn't our last

  • Mobile Software Engineering - you believe in the untapped potential at the intersection of phones x MTB

  • Embedded Software Engineering - you're a wizard; Rohan will speak your language

  • Electrical Engineering - dope electronics to change our sport

  • Computer Science - you believe that powerful analytics can change the way we ride

  • Marketing & Communications - you can preach BrakeAce without being cringe

Intern prerequisites: 

  • Be studying towards a degree or seeking work experience in a related field

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A growth mindset

  • Fun to be around
